The event took place on the 27th of November 2014, in the Main Hall  of the Arad High Court. This was the 8th edition of such seminar and had as the topic “Practical matters regarding the jurisdiction of the national courts in the trademarks field further to the new Civil Procedural Code”. Dr. Andra Musatescu and Otto Szep, the Vicepresident of Arad High Court, held the opening speeches of the event.

The originality of the conference consists in the fact that it was for the first time organized in Romania, outside Bucharest, but it is also a expected continuance of the roundtables tradition organized already by Andra Musatescu Law & Industrial Property Offices.

During the opening lecture dr. Andra Musatescu conducted a short presentation of INTA, mentioning, inter alia, that INTA’s members are more than 6,400 organizations from 190 countries. INTA members collectively contribute almost US $12 trillion / €8.8 trillion to global GDP annually. For comparison, the 2012 annual GDP of the top three markets was US $16 trillion (tie: European Union, United States) and $7 trillion (China).

The main topics approached were: the jurisdiction of the national courts in the trademark domain and counterfeing products.

The meeting was interactive. The participants were very interested in the topic and had numerous questions for the lectors.

Within over 17 years, Andra Musatescu Law & Industrial Property Offices became one of the top firms in Romania and since then has constantly been at the forefront of the intellectual property field.
